Smithfield Foods, Inc. Manufacturing Facility, Kinston, NC

Smithfield Foods new $110 million+, 240,000 SF state-of-the-art office and manufacturing facility, was designed and built on 88 acres in Kinston, NC. Through innovative design, Middough helped Smithfield's new Kinston Facility exceed meat industry best practices as established by the American Meat Institute's (AMI) Facility Design Guidelines. Additional food safety enhancements were incorporated including minimal handling of food products, intermediate ozone sterilization and total separation of raw/cooked support services.

Kikkoman Foods, Silver Spring Foods, Eau Clair, WI

Middough has been a long time service provider for Kikkoman Foods, a leading producer of Asian pourable sauces. Middough's relationship has allowed us to provide a wide range of design and engineering services including specification and design of new production lines, new packaging lines and new material handling systems. Middough has also provided complete engineering, procurement and construction management turnkey services for material handling and waste treatment installations.

Frito Lay, Bakery Facilities, Various Locations

Middough has a long standing engineering relationship with Frito Lay, one of the nation's top salty-snack producers. Middough has provided Frito Lay building shell design for process and warehouse applications, facility mechanical design and utility services design at multiple sites across the continental U.S. Middough has also provided site planning services, QC laboratory design and process support system design including Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems.

Chelsea Milling, Jiffy, Chelsea, MI

Chelsea Milling Company retained Middough to perform architectural and engineering design services, as well as construction management services that included preparing all construction documents and specifications for their new corn meal bulk handling project. The project consisted of truck and railcar bulk pneumatic unloading operations, three storage silos and a new delivery building with pneumatic transfer systems for process production operations. The design was to accommodate future growth for up to eight additional silos. The project scope included state-of-the-art computer control systems for various operations. Middough provided full-time, on-site construction management services. Included were contractor bidding, scheduling of equipment and material deliveries, primary interface with owner's project manager, start-up coordination and commissioning.
