Wal-Mart, Multiple Locations Nationally

Two examples of a multi-story retail concept developed for Wal-Mart are the Chamblee GA, and Monona, WI supercenters. These new stores represent a new big box retailing concept in an urban design setting. Wal-Mart wanted to design a supercenter that satisfied the city's desire for pedestrian oriented development which led to an optimal solution which incorporates a 200,000 SF Wal-Mart Superstore above a 500 to 800 car parking facility. The unique layering of the building allows receiving operations at store level, direct customer access between store level and lower level parking via escalators and elevators.
